Hello there.
This is a blog dedicated to issues in contemporary architecture. The core content is the Master's dissertation entitled Crux of the Fold, dedicated to the same issue. It was written in 2010 by Benjamin Rancic while studying at the London Metropolitan University, with mentor Colin Davies in the MA Architecture History, Theory & Interpretation course.
The subsequent blog posts are focused on the same subject, but weren't included in the dissertation and/or were written later and with further insight.
The purpose of this blog is to share my thoughts on the subject and, hopefully, begin a dialogue which would explore the subject further. Please feel free to engage with the blog posts via comments or contact me via one of the channels listed on ben.si.
The chapters of the dissertation are as follows:
1. Introduction
2. Nothing un-virtual about architecture
3. Naked emperor
4. The essence of the Fold (and folded architecture)
5. Parameters of Parametricism
6. Thoughts & foundations
7. Materiality of non-materiality
8. But who’s the author?
9. Reciprocity
10. Pure bits
11. Conclusion
12. Bibliography
13. References
